Residential looks in depth at parental issues
If you're finding it difficult to cope with being a parent, if
you're exhausted from many nights of interrupted sleep or you're
just needing some sound advice on caring for baby, perhaps a residential
stay is for you.
To utilise Tresillian's Residential Program, you must have a referral from
your Child & Family Health Nurse, your General Practitioner (GP) or
Paediatrician.
In our Residential Unit, parents learn more about:
- Nightwaking
- Baby's routine
- Breastfeeding
- Issues with toddlers
- Post Natal Depression
- Relationship issues
- Parentcraft issues
On arrival, our health professionals discuss your
issues and work out an individual management plan for your family.
A typical residential stay at Tresillian is for four or five nights.
As well as individual counselling
sessions, parents can participate in Tresillian's group programs, which
include a parent/child interaction group.
A masseur is also available at a minimal cost.
Accommodation varies from
Centre to Centre. All Centres provide accommodation so partners can live-in,
as well as a nursery for baby. Twin-single
rooms are also available. Meals are served in a communal dining area.
There is an outdoor courtyard for toddlers and an indoor play area
for younger babies.
How much does it cost?
A small accommodation fee is charged for parents however,
as Tresillian is funded by the NSW Health Department, medical expenses
are covered by Medicare or private health insurance.
