Tresillian’s services are tiered to suit the needs of different families. Tresillian’s 24-Hour Parents Help Line is
a primary service for those needing “on the spot” advice
on issues relating to caring for baby or how they are feeling as a parent.
While the majority of calls are
related to settling and sleeping and breastfeeding, the Parents Help
Line does receive many calls from mothers feeling tearful, anxious or depressed.
If appropriate,
callers are referred to services in their local area. Tresillian’s
Parent Help Line is staffed by qualified Child and Family Health Nurses. Tresillian Outreach is a second
tier service which operates between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday and
is for parents who are finding it difficult
to leave their home for various reasons ranging from managing twins or
triplets to dealing with an unsettled baby or feelings of sadness, anxiety
or depression. This service involves Child and Family Health Nurses,
Psychologists and Social Workers visiting parents in their home,
however the areas visited are restricted to the immediate vicinity of
Tresillian Canterbury and Tresillian Wollstonecraft. Tresillian Day Stay is also a second
tier service and operates Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm
at Tresillian Wollstonecraft and Canterbury and Penrith. Day Stay is
for
parents who may need some guidance on issues such as settling or
breastfeeding. Parents utilising Day Stay have the benefit
of one-on-one assistance from our team of Child and Family Health Nurses,
Social Workers and Psychologists. Parent Education Groups are also held
during the day and counselling is available. Cost: This is a free service
to clients. Tresillian Residential units are a tertiary level of service and is available at Tresillian’s Nepean, Canterbury and Willoughby Centres. Clients are often referred to residential with issues that include an unsettled baby (and exhausted parents), symptoms of postnatal depression, difficulties establishing breastfeeding, parents needing assistance getting baby into a routine and toddler issues. The length of stay at our Residential Centre is four nights, five days. Extended stays may occur depending on the family’s needs. An individual management plan is designed with each family upon admission and the opportunity for counselling is provided. Sick babies Tresillian Staff are highly educated and in addition
to Child & Family
Health qualifications, many are also qualified in Lactation, Child Protection,
Individual and Couple Counselling, Group Facilitation and Mental Health. |
