  Parents/relatives of RPAH Allergy Unit patients and/or childcare workers, teachers, nurses etc.
 
Learn:
 
  • How to recognise an anaphylactic reaction
  • First-aid management of anaphylaxis
  • How to administer adrenaline
  • What to do after administering adrenaline
 
When:
  Generally the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month (please check dates with secretaries or nurse) from 10am until 12noon
 
Where:
  Meet at: RPAH Allergy Unit
9-11 Layton St

Book in on the Ground Floor before 10am
Course is held on Level 1
 
Bring:
  Medicare card of child involved (if parent, relative). It is best to come with someone who can mind the child or children during the session.
 

Catherine Broué is a registered nurse with extensive hospital experience. She has worked at the Allergy Unit for 4 years doing routine skin testing, asthma testing and education and adrenaline training. She has a keen interest in allergen desensitisation.

There are usually 10 to 20 adults in each class group. The classes are conducted so participants can interact in an informal way but also structured so that participants can share their knowledge and concerns with the group.

The course includes a certificate of attendance for teachers and child care workers.
