Donation of special bed for Canterbury Hospital

Members of the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park Masonic Lodge have displayed their community spirit by donating $3,000 to Canterbury Hospital.

The hospital has purchased a special electric bed that assists frail and elderly patients in the hospital’s High Dependency Unit.

The bed can be adjusted to meet the individual needs of a patient.

The height and tilt adjustments allow patients to be placed in the most comfortable position and to be positioned more easily for staff to attend to treatment as well as personal care.

Canterbury-Hurlstone Park Masonic Lodge has long been a supporter of Canterbury Hospital, presenting donations on an annual basis.

Director of Medical Services Helen Jagger thanked the Lodge for its generous donation.

"Some of our sickest patients will benefit from this latest purchase but it also helps nursing staff," she said.

“Now it is even easier for our nurses to attend to the physical care needs of their patients, helping to reduce at-work injuries.

“We are very grateful.”
