On Your First Day...

Present to the admissions desk located at the main entrance of the Hospital to register. You will need your Medicare/DVA card. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled STRONG appointment. You will then be directed to the Centre for STRONG Medicine on level 2. Once entering make your way to the waiting room where staff will greet you.

Your first day involves a medical assessment with Associate Professor Singh. This thorough examination determines whether the program can help with your current medical conditions or determine if there is a reason that would make the program unsafe for you. Any x-rays/pathology results should be brought for the initial assessment. A medical referral to Associate Professor Singh is required for this appointment. Please allow an hour for this examination.

The week following your examination with Associate Professor Singh, you will be required to undergo an assessment of your physical function. This assessment is conducted on a Thursday morning and you need to be in a fasted state (no food or drink after 12am the night before). You will be provided with breakfast shortly after your body composition assessment. You will also be required to complete a number of written questionnaires, walking, balance and strength tests. Therefore comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict movement and flat soled shoes are ideal.

Allow at least 2 hours for the complete assessment. Training days and times along with future medical appointments will be provided on this day.
