Tresillian’s four Family Care Centres located across Sydney
at Belmore, Penrith, Willoughby and Wollstonecraft, cater for
families with a baby or young child who are needing guidance on
parenting issues such as breastfeeding, settling and sleep or
post natal depression.
Classified as a ‘Third Schedule Public Hospital’ and funded
by the NSW Department of Health.
Tresillian Family Care Centres;
- Provides support through our 24-Hour
Parents Help Line. For the cost of a telephone call, (it’s
free for country callers), parents receive on-the-spot advice from
Tresillian’s Child & Family Health professionals on any
issue relating to caring for a baby or young child.
- Outreach Services are offered from
Canterbury
and Wollstonecraft. Parents are visited in their home by Child &
Family Health Professionals.
- Day Stay Units are situated at Canterbury,
Wollstonecraft and Nepean. Families can visit for the day with their
baby and work through concerns they have, with the help of Tresillian’s Child
and Family Health professionals.
- Residential Units at Canterbury,
Willoughby and Nepean offer a more intensive style program where
families can live-in for up to four or five days.
- Education & Research Unit provides
several courses in Child and Family Health
Nursing as well as Seminars and Conferences for health professionals.
- Parent Education is an important focus of Tresillian and
parent groups are held on an ongoing basis both within Tresillian Centres
and externally. Topics include ‘Sleep and Settling’
‘Toddlers are Terrific’ and ‘Adjusting to
Parenthood”.
- Research plays an important role in
Tresillian under the leadership of Anne-Lyse De Guio, Director of
Education and Research in partnership with Professor Catherine Fowler,
Chair of Child and Family Health. A Tresillian Family Adjustment Study,
the Maternal Outcomes Study and Tresillian's Home Visiting Intervention
Program are amongst some of the studies undertaken in the last few
years.”
- Guthrie Child Care Centre situated
at Wollstonecraft, is Tresillian’s
Long Day Care Centre. It caters for up to 40 children. Tresillian’s
Occasional Care Service, also
based at Wollstonecraft, provides a child care service for parents
with babies aged under one year, three days
a week, between 9.30am and 2.30pm (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).
